My Role

Visual Designer

The existing Telstra Satellite Internet banner had reached the end of its licensing rights. A new one was needed one that carried forward the rural spirit and space theme of the product, but felt entirely fresh.

Telstra Satellite

The Brief

Telstra Satellite Internet serves regional and rural Australia people and places beyond the reach of traditional broadband. The previous banner had leaned into that world with a space theme, even featuring an alien. With usage rights expired, I needed to create a replacement that honoured that visual language while pushing it forward. The challenge was that no single existing image could tell the full story. I needed to build one.

My Approach

How I tackled it.

I started by exploring the concept through generative AI using it as a rapid ideation tool to find the right mood, composition, and visual metaphor. The brief to myself was clear: rural Australia, night sky, a sense of quiet connection. The focal point became a farmhouse at night, lights glowing warmly in the front window a home that's connected, even out here.

Once the concept was locked, I moved into Photoshop to composite and retouch the final piece. This wasn't a case of dropping a filter on a stock image it required building up layers of lighting effects, atmospheric depth, and careful retouching to make the scene feel cohesive and cinematic. The warm light in the window was a deliberate focal point, designed to carry the emotional message of the product: staying connected, no matter where you are.

Outcome

A campaign-ready banner that carried Telstra Satellite Internet's brand story forward rural, connected, and distinctly Australian.
